Well some of you know I have been having some interesting health issues. To say that pregnancy is different than I thought it would be would be a HUGE understatement. Now see I expected to have some less than pleasant symptoms…stretch marks, acne, dry skin and gas were all things I was expecting. But crawling on my hands and knees blind off and escalator while at work wa not something I ever in a million years expected.
So I guess I should tell the story so all this makes sense.
So I recently took a job at Macy’s and I loved it! The people were great and u can honestly say I was blown away by such a big companies ability to make you feel part of something
I was really enjoying it even after I overturned a coffee cup full of puke on myself on Black Friday (good mom training) I was working about 20hrs a week and everything was going great. Ya I was tired as all get out but it was nice to be sleeping, well last Monday I went in like always to open up and about an hour in I was walking around retagging some watches when I got dizzy. I stepped up to the counter and rested my hand there, then my vision started to go completely white…so I sat down on a counter and told my manager. Things started clearing up so I decided to her up the escalator to go lay down. BAD FREAKING IDEA!!!!
About half way up my vision was completely gone and I knew I was going down, somehow my brain knew what to do I got on my hands and knees and when I felt the floor I crawled off and collapsed on the ground my hearing was going but some poor poor woman who was just trying to buy a toy helicopter saw me and saw I was clearly in trouble. Next thing I know my vision and hearing are slowly coming back and I am soaked in sweat and beyond embarrassed. Two of my managers were running towards me and two women who are tellingly they are both nurses are above me. Long story short they got me up and to a couch and hydrated me. While I sat there telling everyone I was fine, yes I’d eaten breakfast all I could think was “hubby is gonna freak!”
When I felt up to it I called my Dr. And he recommended I head to the ER.
So I spent the next 3-4 hrs getting poked, prodded, tested and starved.
And they came up with zilch!!
I went home felt fine and so I went to work the next day with no problems.
Come Wednesday I was pulling another drop during the morning meeting. Luckily I already had an appointment set up with my dr that day. I went home and rested until it was time to go. We got there and he checked on little bean who was doing just swell I’m there. But my dr was still concerned so he sent me to a cardiologist who did and echo test as well as an EKG. All of it came back normal but he found that when I was standing my blood pressure would drop drastically. So I have orthostatic hypertension, basically my veins aren’t constricting to keep blood in the upper part of my body. I can eat more salt drink lots if water and not stand for prolonged periods of time. I also get to wear a heart monitor for 24hrs tomorrow!! Oh goodie I love trying to sleep covered in wires. But all joking aside I am very happy that everything seems to be okay and that with a few minor tweaks to my diet and activities me and little bean will be just fine.
I want to thank all my friends and family who have sent there wishes and been concerned for us. We are fine and hopefully the heart monitor shows a healthy happy heart
I will be sure to let you all know how much I enjoy tomorrow’s experiment. So here’s hoping you all have a faint free week and stay off the escalators ;p

This is the photo I thought would reassure my mother I was fine

Hey- you mentioned dry skin and stretchmarks? I’m not sure if you want to even know as I hated advice when I was up the duff, but the best thing I did for my skin was all soap for sorbolene cream which is SO CHEAP and moisturize my body with olive oil instead of anything pricey from a pharmacy. I used it everywhere I thought they’d appear, except my thighs- which is where they ended up coming through.
Hey thanks for the tip! We are pretty obsessed with olive oil in this house and I have used it on my stomach
I have to be very careful with my face cause I also have lovely acne. But everything is balancing out finally at about 19 weeks. Where can you buy the soap though? Ill try anything at this point
Hey no problem! Sorbolene is available anywhere supermarkets or pharmacies, should only cost about 3 bucks for half a liter, it’s glycerine based and it doesn’t foam like soap but it is recommended by dermatologists if you have sensitive skin. I used to get spots too but started using the oil cleansing method on my face, which is pretty much swapping cleanser for olive oil, and using a hot facetowel to remove the residue. Totally worked for me but gotta say some people havent been as lucky, I don’t get big zits anymore which is great. Let me know if you try it, would love to know how you go!
Well ill have to check it out…I highly doubt I will ever put oil on my face my skin will not respond well to that ha. I used to use this oil body wash my dad brought me back from brazil and I just loved it but I could never find it again so it’d be nice to try something similar.
Thanks
